REGINA DI NOCE

ORGANIC HONEY

About Regina di Noce

The Regina di Noce beekeeping farm stems from a deep passion for nature and the desire to adopt the best breeding practices. We follow a rigorous organic methodology, as certified by BIOAGRICERT SRL, that strictly forbids the use of drugs.

Our ‘DOUM’ apiaries are located in Tuscany: on the Monte Pisano, in the Piana di Pisa and around the Tyrrhenian coast where the Etruscans used to live. Here a wide variety of flowers bloom spontaneously.

The Regina di Noce bees live following their own pace, free from stress to produce more than their natural amount. We only collect their excess honey in winter.

Our aim is to provide our customers, who strive to lead an environmentally friendly lifestyle, with a high-quality organic honey. Our honey is pure and characterised by a wide range of flavours and aromas derived from the unique properties of the area of production and the rich variety of flowering available.

We are proud to identify each honey batch, even within the same apiary, with a unique label. Sampling the different batches you will be able to discover the infinite blends of natural honey.

Our organic honey

Honey, despite being produced by bees in nature, is only deemed organic when certified by the relevant Control Body. Beekeeper are forbidden from employing the use of drugs when taking care of its bees.

Our organic honey is delicately extracted from the wax frames, also organic, and placed in the honey drums where it is left to ripe for the strictly necessary amount of time.

Each batch is labelled with the name of the apiary it was produced from and is stored separately, without mixing the various types of mono-floral and multi-floral honey. We offer our honey just like it is made in nature, and you will be able to find both the Spring and Summer Multi-floral honey thanks to our meticulous tracing of the apiary of origin.

The silver seal guarantees the integrity of our product and contains details to identify the specific batch, including information on the harvest, type of honey and the apiary:

  • NOCE: Vicopisano (PI) apiary
  • VILLA: Calci (PI) apiary
  • SERRA: Monte Serra apiary
  • PIANA P: Piana di Pisa apiary
  • PIAGGE: Piagge park in Pisa apiary

The “Noce” apiary  in Vicopisano (Pisa)

The organic apiculture company Regina di Noce is located in Via 4 Novembre 147, San Frediano a Settimo, Cascina (PI). The apiaries are in a beautiful field at the base of Monte Verruca, to the side of Borgo di Noce, in Vicopisano (PI). This was our first apiary.

In this unspoilt location, the blooms are spontaneous and of multiple varieties. The flavour of the first batch of honey, so rich in flavour and aroma, has inspired the owner Stefano Ciucci to find similar locations for the other aviaries. The Villa apiary near Calci is surrounded by olive trees of the Valgraziosa valley, the Monte Serra apiary is immersed in the chestnut trees of the Rosa dei Venti, and finally the Piana di Pisa aviary is right in the heart of organic sunflower fields.

We let the bees do their job because only they know how to make honey…

…and their pasture is our priority

Our Area

Our bees live in Tuscany, in the province of Pisa, in an area that extends from the Monte Pisano in the north-east to the Thyreen sea in the south-west. Thanks to its climate and abundance of natural resources it was seeked by a number of populations, starting with the Etruscan, followed by the Romans, Longobards and finally the Città Marinara of Pisa was founded.

The Monte Pisano has a number of peaks (Monte Faeta, the Spuntone of Santallago, the Monte Serra, the Monte Pruno and Monte Verruca) arranged in a fan-like way embracing Pisa. This generates the Valgraziosa valley where you can find the famous Natural Museum of the Certosa di Calci. The spontaneous blooms of the Monte Pisano are well known for their contribution to exceptional honey production.

The Piana di Pisa extends in the opposite direction, and it is a plain formed in the last stretch of the Arno river that includes Pisa, Cascina, and part of the area of San Giuliano Terme, Vecchiano, Collesalvetti and Livorno.

Come and visit us to taste our range of organic honey, it will provide you with a great excuse to discover the amazing nature where our bees thrive.

Our laboratory

Regina di Noce disposes of its own laboratory, designed to meet all the health and hygiene standards as certified by the local health authority (ASL) and BIOAGRICERT SRL, the Control Body for organic production, BIOAGRICERT SRL.

The laboratory is located in the historical dry goods store of Liliana Catola and has been renovated and adapted by Stefano Ciucci, nephew of Liliana and owner of Regina di Noce. The address is Via 4 Novembre 147, San Frediano a Settimo, Cascina (PI).

During spring and summer the honey harvested from the apiaries of NOCE (Vicopisano PI), VILLA (Calci PI), Monte SERRAA, PIANA PI (PI) and the Piagge Park in Pisa is collected here.

In autumn and winter, the laboratory becomes a store and opens its doors to visitors. It is our pleasure to illustrate our organic production methodology. BIOAGRICERT SRL.
